Design Thinking: Empathy made visible

The first marks on our drawing board aren’t sketches, they’re questions. Lots of them, in fact. Design thinking restructures the communication process by shifting the focus from what brands have to say to what consumers want to hear.

We begin each project with in-depth consumer research to arrive at empathy-based insights; these are then crafted into people-centric solutions that make consumers go, “Hey!
That’s exactly what I wanted.” How did we do it? We simply asked.

Evolution

2006 – While in college, we toyed with the idea of starting a design company that uses design codes to not just make brands look better but do better.

July 2012 – Headless Hippies started operating out of a 10×10 room, specialising in brand identity and design.

2014 – We evolved our approach to create work that’s more impactful for both clients and consumers; we started looking at brands more holistically and applied Design Thinking to our process.

2015 – Biomimicry became our guiding principle.

2016 – We fine-tuned our vision to helping brands answer consumers’s needs in order to enhance their lives.

Abhilash K - Co-founder and Director

A picture's worth a thousand words. Maybe that's why, he's a man of few. Watch Abhilash while he's illustrating, and the word 'Zen' comes to mind. With a Master's from IIM Mumbai's Industrial Design Centre, Abhilash is the artist behind illustrations for Paperboat, Koala and Cuweeosity. Enough said.

Vibin K - Co-founder and Director

After several years in advertising, Vibin set up Headless Hippies to focus purely on design. Nonetheless, he can often be distracted by tea and great conversation. To his credit, he always steers the topic back to design. His love for ideas and the craft can be seen in his work for FreshMenu, Earth Souk, Changemaker Schools, and Nourishing Schools.

Our Approach

Research:
Before any actual creative work begins, Headless Hippies Graphic Design and Films Pvt. Ltd. conducts extensive background research. We will meet with you to understand your goals, audience needs and project expectations. In addition, we will conduct market, customer and competitive research to gather additional insight. Once our research is complete, we will provide a creative brief to summarize the results of our inquiries and outline the project, along with a detailed project schedule to ensure on-time delivery.

Design:
When our analysis is complete and you are on board with the initial concepts, design work begins. We keep your
communication needs and priorities at the core of every design decision – from colors to image selection to font
styles. Typically, we explore several different creative approaches before centering in on our main creative ideas.
Based on your feedback, we evolve these creative approaches into comprehensive design directions.

Deliver:
After you select your preferred creative direction, we begin design execution. Headless Hippies Graphic Design
and Films Pvt. Ltd. works with you to create design and gather copies for the final design pieces. We produce
draft outputs for your review and make sure that your input is reflected before any piece goes into production.
When your quality standards (and ours) are achieved, we prepare your design pieces for final production. We
collaborate closely with any third-party vendors to make sure that the finished product meets
your expectations.
